Wyoming Behavioral Institute Welcomes Dr. John Sappington

John Sappington

Dr. John Sappington is honored to be included in the first group of physicians Board Certified in Addiction Medicine (2009). He also holds certification by the American Society of Addiction Medicine as an addictionologist. He is an NAADC-certified Master Addiction Counselor. He received his Medical Degree at the University of Texas and his Bachelor's Degree at Texas A&M. His residencies were completed at the Wayne State School of Medicine in Detroit, the Mount Sinai Hospital School of Medicine, and the New York University School of Medicine at Bellevue Hospital. He also trained as a Fellow in Child Psychiatry at Brown University and as an Addiction Fellow at Wayne State. Dr. Sappington's past experience includes serving as a 30-bed detox and rehabilitation hospital medical director, an emergency room attending psychiatrist, and a substance abuse specialized health care management and geriatric psychiatrist. He recently designed a residential drug and alcohol treatment facility for professionals. He has more than 20 years of experience working addiction, psychopharmacology, psychiatry and chronic pain management. He has special license to prescribe Suboxone for opiate dependency. Dr. Sappington joined Wyoming Behavioral Institute in July 2009.

Adult Patients: Daily from 5 p.m. to 7 p.m. in 15-minute increments. Only family members may visit.

Adolescent Acute Patients: Daily at lunch and dinner and after dinner
All visitors must be on patient's approved visitors list.

Adolescent Pathways Patients: Daily at lunch and dinner and after dinner
All visitors must be on patient's approved visitors list.

Child Patients: Daily at lunch and dinner and after dinner
All visitors must be on patient's approved visitors list.
